Masoor dal gravy/ kootu


I usually prepare any kootu with thoordal. I ran out of it and I just tried the same with masoor dal and it really tasted good. 

Masoor dal - 1 cup
Carrot and beans diced - 1 cup
tamarind (little would be just enough)
list 1
channa dal - 1 tsp
urad dal - 1 tsp
red chillies - 2
pepper corns - 10 
coconut - 1 tbsp
curry leaves - 4
cook masoor dal and the veggies together in pressure cooker. Soak tamarind in water. Roast the items in list 1 with little oil and when it cools down, grind it to a smooth paste. Heat the pan, put little oil and mustard and jeera for seasoning, add curry leaves, asofetida and then then add cooked dal along with veggies. Now add tamarind water and let it boil. Now add the grounded mixture and add salt. Allow it to boil for 3 mins. It really tastes yum with rice and pappad!

Kootu is my all time favo..I craved for kootu when i was pregnant, healthy and nutritius recipie..

But the event is not "Rci" Lentils mela... Its just lentils mela...Coz it might coz confusion to original RCI event..
